What's it about: James (Donal Gallery), an American teen forced to live in a small Irish town in 1979, finds he can make money to get back to America by selling porno mags.
Eye candy: In the late 1970s, porno means anything that shows a little skin - and it's all illegal in Ireland. James, who runs errands and collects for the local bookie (Nivola), is desperate - and this seems like an ideal sideline enterprise. This cheeky Irish comedy offers a teen hero who is desperate to escape his surroundings - until he discovers that he has a knack for turning an illicit buck. The plot is fun but less important than the colorful characters he encounters, including Colm Meaney as a bad-luck bettor with a hilariously foul mouth.
Long story short: This comedy has the luck of the Irish.
