Speaking of law-enforcement gals who kick butt, how about Oklahoma City cop Grace Hanadarko (Holly Hunter), who's still coping with the priest who abused her as a child as the series starts its second season? Here's a cop show that's not afraid to reveal its characters' very real imperfections and show them confronting them - sometimes in self-destructive ways. The abusive-priest subplot is wrenchingly intense at times, but Hunter also makes it extremely human. Oh - and did we mention that there's still an angel named Earl (Leon Rippy), who's trying to save her soul? Don't confuse this with "Touched by An Angel," though - this show is too rough, ready and raw and it doesn't do heart-warming. If Hunter isn't on the list of Emmy nominees, there is no justice.
