Mariah Carey Replaces Ailing Janet Jackson
Janet Jackson has been replaced... on Saturday Night Live that is. Janet -- who's promoting her new album, Discipline — was scheduled to appear as the musical guest on SNL this week, but was suddenly hospitalized after coming down with the flu. So one of her chief competitors, Mariah Carey, has stepped in and will be replacing her on the live sketch show. Mariah is touting her album, E=MC², which drops April 15. "Mariah is confirmed as musical guest this weekend," an NBC spokesperson tells Star. This will be Mariah's first appearance on SNL in over a decade and you can expect that she'll sing her new single, "Touch My Body," which features 30 Rock star Jack McBrayer as her geeky love interest. Superbad comedian Jonah Hill will be hosting the show. There have long been rumors of feuding between Mariah and Janet (and Mariah and J.Lo, Mariah and Christina Aguilera... you get the point), but the ladies are on the same record label — Island Records — so, regardless, getting promotion for Mariah's album is still a win for the record company. I don't like either one but i think Mariah can maybe sing, unlike Janet. She just rode the coattails of her brothers and got lucky is all.
